The Technology
truSculpt Flex uses Multi-Directional Stimulation (MDS) — a proprietary bio-electrical technology that sends electrical impulses directly into targeted muscle groups, causing deep, sustained contractions that go far beyond what voluntary exercise can produce.
Think of it as an extremely intense, precisely targeted workout — except the device does all the work. The muscle contractions induced by truSculpt Flex exceed what the human body can achieve voluntarily, triggering the same muscle adaptation response as high-intensity training: muscle fiber recruitment, hypertrophy, and strength development.
Three sequential treatment modes work together in each session to prep, exhaust, and build muscle tissue — replicating the most effective gym movements at maximum intensity, hands-free.
Creates a twisting motion to gently stretch and warm up the targeted muscles. Slowly builds tolerance to electrical stimulation — similar to a warm-up set before a heavy workout.
Holds muscles in sustained contractions until they reach the point of complete exhaustion, then releases. This mode replicates the effect of holding a squat or plank at maximum effort — building endurance and strength simultaneously.
Fast, deep contractions in rapid sequence create "muscle confusion" — maximizing fiber recruitment and triggering the muscle adaptation that drives mass and definition. This is where the 30% average muscle mass increase comes from.
Where It Works
Core strengthening, definition, six-pack visibility — including obliques for full midsection sculpting.
Gluteal muscle building and lift — for patients wanting a firmer, more defined backside without endless squats.
Quadriceps and hamstrings — front and back of the thighs for overall leg definition and strength.
Biceps and triceps — for upper arm definition, tone, and the appearance of leaner, stronger arms.
Lower leg definition and muscle tone for patients seeking more sculpted, defined calf muscles.
Targeting the oblique muscles of the sides — contributing to a more defined waist and core silhouette.
Adductor muscles — a commonly undertrained area that responds well to electrical muscle stimulation.
Up to 8 areas can be treated simultaneously — meaning you can work the entire body in a single 45-minute session.
Candidacy
Already working out but hitting a plateau? truSculpt Flex stimulates muscle at intensities beyond what manual exercise can produce — helping athletes and active individuals break through definition barriers and accelerate results.
No time for the gym? truSculpt Flex delivers the equivalent of an extremely intense workout in 45 minutes with zero effort. It's fully passive — you lie still while the device does the work. No sweat, no scheduling conflicts, no recovery day needed.
Muscle loss after injury, surgery, or pregnancy is common. truSculpt Flex can rebuild and reactivate muscle groups that have weakened or become difficult to engage — offering a safe, gentle way to rebuild strength without physical strain.
Important: truSculpt Flex is a muscle-building and toning treatment — it is not a fat reduction procedure. Patients who have significant fat overlying the target muscles may not see the definition they're hoping for without addressing fat separately. For best results, candidates should be within a healthy weight range for their body. We also offer truSculpt iD for fat reduction — ask your provider about combining both for comprehensive body contouring results.
Questions Answered
truSculpt Flex creates muscle contractions via electrical stimulation — the sensation is often described as a strong, rhythmic muscle squeeze. In Prep mode it feels like a warm stretch. In Tone mode it's a sustained, firm squeeze. In Sculpt mode the contractions become rapid and intense — like doing sprint sets for your muscles.
Intensity is fully adjustable from 0–100% and is increased gradually session by session as your muscles adapt. Most patients find it tolerable and surprisingly comfortable — it's intense but not painful. You can talk, watch your phone, or relax during treatment.
A standard initial series consists of 4–6 sessions scheduled 2–5 days apart — mirroring how gym training works, where consistency and frequency drive results. Just like lifting weights, the more sessions you complete, the greater the muscle development.
After your initial series, maintenance treatments ranging from once a month to once every 3 months help sustain and continue building results. Your provider will customize the schedule based on your fitness level, goals, and how your muscles respond to treatment.
Many patients notice tighter, more engaged muscles after the very first session — particularly in the abdomen and glutes. Visible definition and measurable muscle mass improvement typically become apparent 8–12 weeks after completing the initial series as the muscle tissue fully adapts and hypertrophies.
Clinical studies show an average of 30% increase in muscle mass in treated areas across the patient population — though individual results vary based on starting fitness level, body composition, and treatment consistency.
There is no downtime — you can return to normal activities immediately after your session. Because truSculpt Flex works the muscles without any impact, strain, or surface disruption, there is no recovery period required.
Some patients experience mild muscle soreness for 24–48 hours after treatment — the same feeling you'd have after an intense workout. This is a normal sign that the muscles have been effectively stimulated and is not a cause for concern. Staying hydrated before and after treatment helps minimize this.
truSculpt Flex is an exceptional tool for building and maintaining muscle mass and definition — and it works at intensities that manual exercise simply cannot replicate. However, it works best as a complement to an active lifestyle rather than a complete replacement for physical activity.
For cardiovascular health, bone density, and overall wellness, regular physical activity remains important. What truSculpt Flex offers is targeted muscle development in specific areas — particularly where genetics, time constraints, or physical limitations have made it difficult to build definition through traditional training alone.
truSculpt Flex is not appropriate for patients who have electronic implants such as pacemakers, defibrillators, or neurostimulators in or near the treatment area — as the electrical stimulation could interfere with these devices. It is also contraindicated for pregnancy, active cancer in the treatment area, and patients with metal implants or plates in the target zone.
Additionally, patients with significant fat overlying the target muscles may see limited definition results without addressing fat reduction first. A thorough consultation and health history review are required before treatment to confirm candidacy.
Absolutely — and this is often the most powerful combination available in body contouring. truSculpt Flex builds and defines the muscle. truSculpt iD (radiofrequency fat reduction) reduces the fat layer sitting above it. Together, they address both components of body definition: more muscle beneath, less fat on top.
Ask your provider at Laser Vantage about a combined truSculpt protocol if fat reduction alongside muscle building is part of your goal.
Your Treatment Plan
Step 01
We assess your body composition, goals, fitness level, and target areas. Candidacy is confirmed and your personalized session plan is built.
Step 02
4–6 sessions, 2–5 days apart. Intensity increases each visit as your muscles adapt. Each session is 45 minutes — no prep, no recovery needed.
Step 03
Visible improvement in tone and definition appears 8–12 weeks post-series. Muscle mass continues building as adaptation peaks.
Step 04
Monthly to quarterly sessions sustain and continue building results. Many patients pair ongoing truSculpt Flex with their regular fitness routine.
